PERSONAL INTRODUCTION
Teaching English With Experience, Encouragement and Understanding
I am a qualified British teacher with over 20 years of teaching experience, including extensive experience in international school settings. I also hold a CELTA qualification, which gave me specialist training in teaching English to speakers of other languages.
Throughout my career, I have worked with primary-aged learners, adults and teachers. What I enjoy most is helping people become more confident - whether that is an adult finding the words to join a conversation, a child beginning to read more independently, or a teacher developing new ways to support English learners in the classroom.

INTERNATIONAL TEACHING JOURNEY
An International Teaching Career
My work has taken me into a variety of international education settings and has allowed me to teach learners with different first languages, learning experiences and levels of confidence. I have taught adult English conversation classes in Japan, an experience I particularly enjoyed and would now like to build on through my online conversation classes.
I have also worked for two Ministries of Education in Southeast Asia, supporting both learners and teachers in English language development.

JAPAN EXPERIENCE
Teaching Adult Conversation in Japan
My experience teaching adult English conversation in Japan helped shape the way I approach spoken English. I saw how learners could know a great deal of English but still feel hesitant when speaking spontaneously
That experience reinforced my belief that confidence grows through regular, supportive practice. Learners need space to speak, make mistakes, ask questions and gradually become more comfortable expressing themselves naturally.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
My Teaching Philosophy
01
I believe effective learning begins with trust and confidence. Students should feel comfortable enough to try, make mistakes and ask questions without feeling judged.
02
My role is to provide the right level of challenge while making learning achievable and encouraging. I adapt my teaching to the individual, because every learner brings different strengths, experiences and goals.
03
For adults, that means creating meaningful opportunities to speak naturally and develop fluency. For children, it means making phonics and English engaging while building strong foundations step by step.
